Collection and Recycling of Ink Cartridges
Canon has recycled ink cartridges since 1996. As of September 2011, countries and regions in which collection and recycling were launched in the United States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, France, UK, Germany, Japan, China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, South Korea, Philippines, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia and India. In order to promote global environmental protection and effective use of resources, we plan aggressive expansion of the number of countries and regions covered by these initiatives.
As much material as possible from the collected ink cartridges is used so that there is as little waste as possible. Canon has been reprocessing plastic materials from collected ink cartridges and, in Japan, using these materials to manufacture such plastic products as plastic boxes and pallets. Also, some of the new ink cartridges produced in Japan are partly containing these materials.
*The process varies among countries.
